How we built Oil Extreme's organic traffic, rankings and AI visibility from zero

Oil Extreme sells motor oil, transmission fluid, oil additives and engine break-in systems online. Its site wasn't ranking for the keywords buyers use, so we combined SEO, AEO and GEO to get its product pages found on Google and in AI answers.

The problem: strong products, no search presence

Oil Extreme is an online store that sells motor oil, transmission fluid, oil additives and engine break-in systems. The products are strong, but the website wasn't showing up when people searched for them.

The client came to us with two clear problems: the website wasn't getting enough traffic, and the product pages weren't ranking for the keywords buyers use on Google.

We started the work from scratch. The pages had no H1 tags and the product pages had no FAQs. Our first ranking check showed none of the target keywords ranking, and none of the priority questions showing in Google AI features or in AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Our goals: Rank product and category pages for buying keywords, grow organic traffic and orders, and make Oil Extreme visible in AI answers.

02

The strategy: map, fix, then get cited

Each step gave the next one a solid base: every keyword got one page to rank, those pages were fixed and strengthened, and the content was then shaped so AI tools could quote it.

Step 01Research & map

31 target keywords, each matched to the one page best suited to rank for it

Step 02On-page

Meta titles, H1s, alt text, content and FAQs on every targeted page

Step 03Technical

Speed, mobile, Core Web Vitals, sitemap, breadcrumbs and product schema

Step 04AEO & GEO

Answer-style content and schema for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity

Step 05Supporting posts

Blog posts that build topic depth and link to the pages that sell

03

What we did

Keyword research & URL mapping

31 target keywords across 5 groups

  • •Engine oil, transmission fluid, additives, break-in oil and brand keywords
  • •Checked monthly search volume and competition for each keyword
  • •Matched every keyword to one page so pages stop competing with each other

On-page SEO fixes

Every targeted page rebuilt

  • •Rewrote meta titles and descriptions around the main keyword
  • •Added H1 tags and descriptive image alt text, which were missing
  • •Added FAQs to product pages and internal links from supporting posts

Technical SEO fixes

Easier for Google to load and read

  • •Improved website speed, mobile experience and Core Web Vitals
  • •Fixed broken links, optimized the XML sitemap and tested robots.txt
  • •Added breadcrumbs with breadcrumb schema, and product schema

AEO & GEO

11 priority questions tracked

  • •Added accurate specifications, benefits, use cases, reviews and FAQs
  • •Added Product, BreadcrumbList and Organization schema
  • •Answered buyer questions directly, with comparison content and EEAT signals

Supporting blog posts (OSBs)

Each post links to a product page

  • •What are the benefits of Oil Extreme transmission fluid?
  • •How concentrated oil additives strengthen motor oil performance
  • •Blog, FAQ and Product schema on every post

Measuring progress

Baseline taken before work started

  • •Tracked organic landing page traffic and conversions
  • •Tracked referral traffic from AI platforms where it can be identified
  • •Tested the priority questions in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
04

What we learned

1

Basics first

The pages had no H1 tags and were missing key technical elements. Fixing these gave the later work a solid base.

2

Clear page-to-keyword mapping works

Giving each keyword one best page helped the transmission fluid pages reach the top 10 for several buying keywords.

3

Direct answers help in AI search

Answer-style content, FAQs and schema helped Oil Extreme appear for most priority questions within about four months.

4

Competitive keywords take longer

Broad terms like “synthetic motor oil” need more time and more supporting content, and are the focus of the next phase.
